Whether you are just beginning your writing or illustrating career, or you’re a PAL, or you’re somewhere in between, this conference is for you! Join us for a full day of learning, inspiration, networking, and fun. Our 15th annual Spring Spirit Conference promises to be as exciting as ever; two editors, two literary agents, two illustrators (our former and current Illustrator Coordinators!), three authors, and three remote faculty members will share their knowledge and skills so you can take your work to the next level!

If you register during Early Bird Registration, you can choose to enter into our FREE drawing for a 15 minute individual consultation with editor, Tiffany Liao! THE FINE PRINT IN NOT SO FINE PRINT:

  1. No walk-ins. Everyone must pay in advance. We accept PayPal and check payments. Checks should be payable to SCBWI-CA: North/Central. Please send checks to PO Box 1017, Davis, CA 95617. (Please note checks will clear within two weeks.) Deadline to register is April 15, 2019.
  1. Written manuscript critiques will be available for an extra $50 fee for members only. You may request your top three readers and we’ll do our best, but cannot guarantee your choices. Assignments are first-come, first-served based on your registration date. Spaces are limited. Faculty members will select up to 3 authors to meet with face-to-face on conference day. Payment and manuscripts must be received by 3/15/19. Please note that these critiques sell out quickly! It’s best not to wait until the deadline. See the link at the top right for details.

  1. Remote portfolio critiques for illustrators will be available for an extra $50 fee. Assignments are first-come, first-served based on your registration date. Spaces are limited. Electronic portfolios must be received by 3/10/19. See the link at the top right for details.
  2. The Portfolio Showcase is another opportunity for illustrators, and is offered at no charge. See the link at the top right for details.
  3. CANCELLATION POLICY: A full refund less a $30 processing fee will be granted through March 15, 2019. From March 16, 2019 through April 15, 2019, a 50% refund will be offered IF we can fill your spot using the waiting list. Otherwise, no refund will be granted. No refunds will be offered after April 15, 2019. No refunds for manuscript or portfolio critiques regardless of cancellation date. We are a nonprofit organization, and our region is run completely by volunteers. Refunds create additional paperwork, time, and PayPal fees for the region, so we thank you for understanding this non-negotiable cancellation policy.

Additionally, the material in all handouts and presentations is copyrighted and may not be reprinted, blogged, written, orally transmitted, and/or reproduced without written permission of the copyright holder ONLY. One benefit of attending this conference is gaining “inside” information and opportunities other people do not have access to.
